The Confident Woman - Start Today Living Boldly and Without Fear by Joyce Meyer

Joyce Meyer's name has been echoing for years because of her unwavering offer of assistance to women all over the globe, and now she takes on the battle of confidence with The Confident Woman. Every time the issue of gender difference is discussed, we all understand that women are the most insecure ones. This is how our society has always been, the men are the strong ones and the women are the weak ones. And even though time itself has proven that men and women are just equal in nearly all aspects of life, a lot of women are still trapped with the mindset and self-image of inferiority. Why do you believe is that?

The Confident Woman is constructed in an easy-to-comprehend form that is applicable for women of all ages. And just like all other works by Meyer, this is very religiously-rooted. The book opens with a story that we have long been familiar of, Adam and Eve. Using this example, Meyer shows that men and women have been created equal ever since the beginning and there is no reason for them to hate each other. For the succeeding portions of her book, Meyer lays more passages and verses from the Bible to help readers rid of the "Woman vs. Man" misconception.

But the book does not only tackle the confidence issues that women gain from their differences with men, but also from their own gender as well. The book gives a thorough trip to the different moments in the past, showing readers the exact things on various times that caused the modern day women to have insecurities. Several misconceptions about women are also mentioned, like the fact that women should meet certain standards to be considered acceptable. But the thing is, most women are actually succumbing to these rules of our society.

In addition, Meyer discusses the presence of fear and how it influences women to just break down and let society take control of them. Then she also suggests what weapon every woman should use to fight these fears, a true connection with God. This is because above all things, the only way that people can really find confidence in themselves is through having confidence in God.

Joyce Meyer did an amazing job when it comes to defining everything that makes women fearless. The 7 characteristics that Meyer enumerates to define a confident woman is very clearly enumerated that any woman can easily adopt them to their own lives. Things that happen to women are not really as simple as we believe, for they all somehow add up to the lack of confidence that most women feel. Meyer has a talent for talking directly to her readers, and she does this again in The Confident Woman, making sure that women will really learn from her.

Sparkling Gems from the Greek

At first sight, you might think that Rick Renner's Sparkling Gems from the Greek is a book that will help you enhance your Greek vocabulary. The design on its cover shows sparkling gems and fancy letterings. Unless you come near this book and really read what's written on the cover, you might miss the subtitle that mentions God. Its astounding 1000-page form might also take you aback as you will surely think this is a very nerdy book to take with you home. But you know what they all say, never judge a book by its cover. The thing is, despite its fanciful cover design, Rick Renner's Sparkling Gems from the Greek is more than just another book.

In its truest form, Sparkling Gems from the Greek is a devotional. With this book, Rick Renner gives a listing of devotionals that readers have to use for their daily lives. The main reason behind the bulky structure of this of this book is that because it has a devotional for every one of the 365 days in a year. Also, Sparkling Gems from the Greek is not just like any other devotional, as every daily reading is carefully planned to be of the right length.

Renner begins every reading with a verse or a scripture from the New Testament as this will then open a certain "topic" for the day. If you've been uncertain as to why the Greeks are included in the title of the book, the following will then be your much-awaited clarity. The New Testament is actually originally written in Greek. But when the entire text of the Bible was made into an English version, the New Testament also underwent through a series of translation.

This is the main ingredient that makes Sparkling Gems from the Greek a cut above the rest of the devotionals available, because Renner translates the New Testament using his own words. Renner does not rely on the already-translated Bible versions, instead he converts the New Testament directly from Greek. After the opening scripture in the book's readings, Renner proceeds to talk further about the issue. He even adds a lot of messages of encouragement for all his readers. The daily studies will be closed by means of two steps, a prayer and a declaration of faith. After that, Renner trails off with several questions that readers have to reflect on for the rest of the day.

The only negative sides to buying this book would be it's high price and bulky exterior. When it comes to its contents, it is polished well. It can be easily observed that Renner is very much confident when it comes to talking about faith and God, which is definitely what readers need from a devotional author. Sparkling Gems from the Greek is a sure recommendation.

The Amplified Bible

The Amplified Bibles were the first bible released by The Lockman Foundation in a joint effort with The Zodervan Corporation. The main aim in producing these bibles was to translate the original Greek and Hebrew scriptures into the English language. But the methods of doing so were not actually as simple as they sounded. Prior to the amplified version, the bible has already been published in English using the traditional ways of language translation. The conventional process of word-by-word or even phrase-by-phrase conversion, as we might all know, poses the high likelihood of stripping the original texts from their real contexts and extensive meanings. In the case of the bible, the event of such circumstances had been feared to lessen the impact of its real insights. That is why a certain woman proposed to translate the bible using a more versatile form of transition.

This woman has the name Frances Siewert (Litt. B., B.D., M.A., Litt. D.). With the help of her strong faith and undying devotion to learn the words of God, she dedicated her time into studying the Bible thoroughly. She focused in understanding the archeological details and cultures of the Biblical period. She expanded her knowledge in both Hebrew and Greek languages. All of her hard work later on aided her in her aim to give the English bible the wider and more elaborate form of translation. Siewert's intentions and aspirations came to the attention of The Lockman Foundation. It was a non-profit foundation ran by Christian members that saw the potential and the sincerity in Siewart's goals. Lockman backed up Siewart with funding and other types of support that she needed. Soon before the bible was finished, the Zodervan publishing house joined them. And the very first amplified bibles were produced.

It was in Siewert's objective that this version of the bible was created, and is still produced. This version has kept its promise of providing wider and more broadened view of the bible. It perfectly suits the favor of those who wish to see the bible under a richer and vaster spectrum of interpretations that the traditional versions fail to offer. They may come a little too wordy and exaggerated to other people's liking, but these are the exact features that separate them from the rest. Amplified bibles do not only pass on the words that we have already heard over and over, they bring out the picture and color into our minds and our hearts.

Study Bibles - What are Study Bibles

Study Bibles are made to help people who have always wanted to examine the bible deeper, yet are being held back by their limited knowledge of certain biblical vocabularies and facts. Because the messages behind bible verses originally date back from the ancient period, most of the concepts and ideals included are incomprehensible to most of us modern readers. On the account of such concern, publishers of major Christian books have made it a point to help the public in their quest to get serious in learning the bible. Hence, aside from the conventional prints, new versions of the bible containing additional helpful features have been released.

Study bibles are specifically one of these versions that distinctly aim to assist and guide readers into understanding nearly every element in the bible text. They basically have two functions: one as a bible and another as a tool in dissecting the details of the bibles. Their common features include Book Introductions, Cross References, Concordance, Maps, Study Notes and the Topical Indexes.

The introductions familiarize the readers with the author, themes, and sometimes with brief outlines. These are helpful in the sense that they prepare the audience on what conditions to expect as they read along. In most cases, they even give essential background information. With cross references, the book shows a column next to a certain text that carries other passages patterned with the same idea. This feature allows the reader to focus and expand on a certain concept, which makes understanding that concept easier. In the case that one forgets the exact words of a bible text or verse, the concordance and indexes help in finding by using only a few key words. Maps are also found to be very accommodating as a lot of bible scriptures consist of narrations with detailing of geographical settings. With the visual aid of maps, readers will no longer have a hard time picturing a scenario or some circumstances. Study notes and commentaries are those added drafts to explain further vague concepts that readers encounter. Some examples of these are the usual footnotes.

Aside from such beneficial components of these bibles for studying, they also come in various presentations to suit personal preferences. Some examples are the materials used in the covers of the bibles, such as leather, hardbound and paperback. Although there are a lot of choices in the market, you are not obligated to choose the best one among them. Expect that all study bibles are equal in their intention to help, guide and support you in your way to learning the words of the Lord.

Reference Bibles - Grabbing One For Yourself

Reference Bibles are special types of bibles that are specifically made to help those who are studying the context of the bible. Unlike the typical bible forms that we came to know, reference bibles have added features that will guide learners through how they would fully understand the words of the bible. For instance, there are some questions integrated at the need of every book in the bible. These questions are what will serve as "quizzes" for users to think about and reflect as they also test themselves on the account of the things that they have learned so far.

Reference bibles are made mainly from the textual contents of the KJV (King James Version) Bible Old and New Testaments. The additional features of these bibles will depend highly on the publishing group that releases them. Let's take the popular Scofield Reference Bible, which was a proud produce of the Oxford University Press back in the early 1900s. It incorporates a cross-referencing section in every page, allowing users to be able to follow a series of theme-related biblical verses which are found in different pages. With this feature, users will be able to browse through the bible while focusing on a single lesson or message without necessarily getting lost. Also, the Scofield version has an integrated commentary all throughout the entire bible.

Another great example of other releases would be the Dake Annoted Reference Bible. This specific bible offers a three-column page layout, which gives way to for users to read additional notes. This bible also has the aforementioned set of questions given at every end of sections. It also offers extras for extensive and more profound usage. For example, there are summarization of every book which can help in group studies. There are also highlighted and outlined text ready for sermons. And to those who wish to have direct translations, this bible version gives direct word definition from the Hebrew and Greek texts.

These are only two example of reference bibles, there are so much more available in the market and each of them also has their own line of variations as well. If you choose a specific version, you will still have to narrow your choices as to what format you would like to have it. Will you go for electronic formats such as audio and software-type bibles? What type of covering suits your need: leather-bound or standard hard covers? Of course, different bibles have difference price tags as well. But the issue here is not the most expensive, most stylish, or most feature-studded version of this bible. It will be its capacity to really help you with your aim to study God's words effectively. So, if you decide to buy one of these reference bibles, pick wisely.
